Justin Sager: New Members of Bbird

Justin Sager joined the Blackbird Team in January 2022. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with a graduate focus on ecological architecture and sustainable design. Before moving to Santa Barbara, he spent several years in Madison working on academic laboratory and healthcare buildings, eventually
becoming a licensed architect in 2020.

Justin has been interested in architecture since an early age. However, one of the earliest influences on his present design philosophy was visiting the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center, a carbon-neutral building constructed in 2007 near his hometown in Wisconsin.

Justin draws inspiration from travel and other cultures, including time spent in Japan and Scandinavia, along with working on a design project located in Senegal. He believes design should be sensitive to its context and that spaces can strengthen a sense of place within the surrounding environment and community. He is excited about the design opportunities the Santa Barbara climate offers for local projects.
