Located on a challenging, constrained hillside property, this residence is sensitively placed to maximize captivating views to the Santa Barbara coast and the Channel Islands beyond. The modest building footprint reduces impacts to the site, affords generous outdoor experiences, and responds to the client’s desire for a home where they can comfortably age in place. Indoor-outdoor connections are the greatest achievement of this design – small spaces open up to expansive natural surrounds. Sustainability was a priority for the owners. Solar-ready by design, the home will achieve Net-Zero energy use at the time of PV installation.
