Concept design and feasibility study for a new National Science Foundation AI research facility – the ACTION Institute. Created a bold, outward-facing identity for this adaptive re-use of an existing lab inside UCSB’s Harold Frank Hall.
Open work space, interactive digital presentation walls, informal meeting areas, soft seating and kitchenette foster collaboration and inquiry.
Full-surround digital monitors lining the perimeter of the room provide real-time display of ongoing research and cyber security. New south-facing glazing opens the interior to ocean views and a shaded patio that supports institute events and outdoor work/study.
