The 1,500 square foot observatory houses the largest refracting telescope between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The building is designed to accommodate nighttime community stargazing gatherings as well as astronomy classes and workstations. Celestial references, as well as physics and astronomical imagery, informed the curving shapes in the design of the building and surrounding landscape.
